Murcia is Refreshing
Sea Leisure & Water Sports
The Costa Calida will not disappoint lovers of aquatic and nautical activities. Along the entire coastal line of Murcia, one has the opportunity to practice a variety of sports on the beach shore.
The privileged location of La Manga makes it the perfect place to practice nautical activities such as canoeing, windsurfing, scuba diving, water skiing, fly surfing or rowing. The calm waters of the Mar Menor are the ideal setting to start off sailing, while the waves on the Mediterranean side of La Manga are a challenge for fans of more extreme sports such as windsurfing or kitesurfing.
The biological marine reserve of Cabo de Palos and Islas Hormigas, part of La Manga, stands out for it’s beauty and good conservation of the seabed that have made it one of the favourite destinations for scuba diving in Spain.
In fact, the seabed of the reserve has been declared in 2015 as the best diving destination in the European continent.
In that area stand out the facilities of the Mar Menor Nautical Station. They are a set of nautical, sport and tourist infrastructures, training and leisure establishments grouped in a common space: the entire Ribera del Mar Menor and La Manga. There, one can receive a customed-made holidays plan, regardless of age and level in different sports. It is, without a doubt, a good way to make the most of all the possibilities offered by nautical tourism.
For diving enthusiasts, Mazarron offers optimal and well-defined areas. Its clear waters are home to many marine species which makes them an alluring attraction for curious divers.
The rocky bottoms and the biodiversity of the Mazarron coast have earned them the title of “the paradise of divers”. The diving centers and schools in the area offer courses for all levels, so, even if you have no idea, it will be easy to get to know the underwater world.
For those who are attracted to adventure sports, there is also a varied offer on land, specifically along the Segura river slope.
Choose rafting, banana or kayak, to raise the adrenaline and let yourself be dragged along the river's water stream.
The descent of the river activities are carried out in the Segura’s high riverbed and pass along one of Murcia’s places of greater ecological value. The riverside vegetation and the typical fauna of the area, make the descent very entertaining and allow you to enjoy the wonderful landscape that the river has drawn in the cracks of the rocks, valleys, mountains and dreamy trails.
For rookies with an adventurous spirit there is a large number of companies in the Region that are responsible for organizing the activities providing the basic notions for the management of rafting boats or similar. In addition, they offer packs of offers to organize your own plan as a family or as a couple that includes buggy routes and stops to try local cuisine dishes.
