The Region of Murcia will neither disappoint lovers of good wine. With its three certificates of origin, red, rosé and white wines are grown and produced in the fertile lands of the north of the province.
The importance that Murcian wines have gained in the last decade has aroused interest towards tourist winemaking and has created a wine culture that is gaining more followers every day.
Spread among the three municipalities - Bullas, Jumilla and Yecla - there are more than 200 wineries that stamp their seal when it comes to growing and manufacturing wine with character and certificate of origin.
Tradition lives together with new ways of understanding the gastronomy, in which recipes are reinvented and updated. Despite their differences, both share a common basis: the use of the best products.
In Murcia is located one of the best restaurants in the country that bears a Michelin star and whose signature dishes stand up for the native cuisine.
Go for “tapas”, “cañas”, “picar” something, “tapear”... there are many ways to call it. The tapas culture is a social custom that has a lot to do with the open and friendly character of the southern Spaniards and Murcians are proof of that. Tapas, those small doses of joy that allow us to taste the best of the cuisine of the city are part of the local culture. The good weather and the attraction for the hustle and bustle have led Murcians to seek the encounter, the company and the enjoyment of the noise. One of those meeting points are local bars, where we can recreate with an almost infinite variety of tapas.
Appetizers, starters, half portions ... tapas are all this and much more.
From the obligatory “marineras”, “caballitos”, “tigres” or "montaditos", to the most modern ones that compete in originality in a kind of contest, the Tapa Route, among the bars and restaurants of the city, tapas are not just a way to enjoy gastronomy, but to enjoy the company of friends, share a moment with colleagues after work.

The jewel of Murcian enology is the Jumilla Certificate of Origin. Its wine tradition dates from Antiquity when the Romans cultivated vines in these territories. In fact, in Jumilla have been found the remains of the oldest vitis vinífera in Europe (year 3.000 a.C.), as well as utensils and archaeological remains related to winemaking.
Wine tourism in Jumilla offers an infinity of activities and services. From visits to wineries and vineyards or tastings, to a whole series of gastronomic activities and activities related to wine, such as musical events, cultural events or historical routes around the area.
